Johnathan Burton, the classic tenor, not only runs one of the busiest
studios in Northern California, it is also where the professionals go to learn and improve their skills. From working
with beginning students to working with professionals on tour, the spectrum is wide but the goal the same - be the
best you can be! As a classically trained vocalist and director, he has had the chance to travel the world. Johnathan
has fallen in love with not only music but the art and design that has surrounded him throughout his career.
Having studied classic technique under some of the world's greats, he has studied in Europe, Sacramento State, and the
California Institute of the Arts. Johnathan has enjoyed learning the "real world" use of good solid studies.
He has worked with an amazing collection of instructors and other world renown soloists and performed
throughout the world. He has gained a better knowledge of the level that is needed to perform on a regular basis. The
technique needed to sustain such vocal use is a key factor in the structure of Johnathan's teaching. Speaking fluent
Italian, his vocal students learn to sing not only in Italian but also English, Spanish, German, and French. While teaching
with the classic "Bel Canto" method, his clients are given a better understanding of the complete vocal
production of the voice.
"I truly love music and have loved to learn new instruments and techniques. While
I teach voice, piano, brass, and woodwind. I also enjoy collecting antique instruments and love playing the Native American
flute, didgeridoo, accordion, and most common orchestral instruments. While learning the beauty behind each instrument, I
have found it very beneficial with composing and my own vocal studies."
Although he teaches with classic technique,
this can be used to improve students with a wide variety of styles as my professional students are not only opera singers
but those in the pop industry. He requires all students to study and learn music theory and while each lesson is fun,
he expects a lot from his students.
"I continue to push my students and marvel at where they go with direction,
motivation, and heart. I have overseen the musical direction of many classic and Broadway shows, directed large and small
groups, orchestras, and choirs. I have spent time in the recording studio, I am a recording artist and own my own
production studio. While enjoying to work well in a variety of roles within music, I have been able to appreciate the
work involved for today's busy performers."
Johnathan has found great joy in teaching those that
love music. While he loves being home as a husband and father, he still trys to stay active within the arts and offers
various master classes
While the studio is full, you can contact this site to be put on a waiting list for the
next possible opening in Johnathan's schedule. Each student is evaluated before being placed on the regular studio roster
for scheduled lessons and individual lessons can be arrange for those not interested in weekly or monthly lessons.
Take your time in finding a teacher that is best suited for you. Find someone that not only loves music but is actively
using their own talents. Whether you have dreams of stardom or just want to be able to play or sing for relaxation, finding
someone that can help you develop good technique is the most important element of your music studies.
